Last weekend on February 29th – March 1st was the 2020 BC Bike Show. The sun was warm and the ocean breeze was fresh as I approached the doors. I then saw a Bike Valet and dropped my bike off to the nice volunteers keeping everything organized with numbered spots so there would be no confusion finding each bike after the show ends. After getting past the big lineup, I got my camera and gear ready for covering some of the latest local and international Ebikes companies. I was super excited to see what was waiting inside!

As I explored and felt the vibes of electricity and smiling faces all around, It was PACKED! I recognized some familiar local shops and others I have seen online. I took some time to get footage of the tricks and flips being gracefully performed at the jump stage before I began introducing myself to the companies I would be greeting and interviewing. I made sure not to butt into the business of each booth where they are talking with other interested attendees of the show so that them, their friends, and family and who wanted to learn more about them could first.

In each interview, I covered the original and newest models of each company that make many people’s commutes and daily living easier thanks to their Ebike and professional services. Some of these companies have been in the Ebike and EV industry since 2005!
Below I have made a quick compilation of the show, a more in depth video with interviews of Biktrix, East Van Chopcycle, Rad Power Bikes, and more will also be added soon!

I had no idea bikes have come this far! I have 2 mountain bikes and thoroughly enjoy peddling, however I have to say there is something so appealing about these bikes. I’m a weekend warrior and sometimes I bite off more than i can chew and find myself struggling to get home. Each week I try to challenge myself to go further but after a 30 mile ride fatigue sets in. I usually make it home but have to say there is an element of danger while being exhausted, not having the reflexes needed to divert a car, pot hole, or other obstacle when you’ve ridden farther than you should. I’m seriously thinking about looking into an e-bike. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to such a great invention.

Hi Jaime, you are absolutely right! Especially for new riders who are not used to hiking up an steeper incline. I do recommend to new riders to challenge themselves at climbing hills will little assist only on medium level hills so that you can tell what the bike really feels like closer to it’s truest form as a bicycle. Add some more power, and get familiar with all of the control positions and functions for a safe and fun ride.

You are welcome Jaime, I’m happy to help 🙂 For more information, here are links to more info about motors & batteries so you can begin to familiarize yourself with the basics of what makes these awesome bikes roll with whisper quiet effectiveness: “Benefits of E-Bikes & Motorcycles”, “Ebike Motors”, “Lithium Battery Anatomy”.

I used to love riding my ebike when I lived in China, they are a little bit different over there but same principle and so much fun being able to navigate highly populated cities with such a small bike at high efficiency.
Great content there are so many people that should look into ebikes since they are much more sustainable and affordable in the long term.

I really liked the intro of you riding through the city on your bike, very calming xD

      Hi Johannes,

If you have good bike paths in your city like I do here in Vancouver, it’s so easy to get around! E-Bikes are growing so much in popularity for their effective maneuverability, ease of storage, and the places you can reach are just about endless!

Hey Rowan, I myself enjoy riding a bike. I’ve loved it every since I was a kid. However, I never bought an ebike before. I can see your website is dedicated to them. It is not that I never wanted to buy ebike, its just that the city that I’m living at is really plain, and there is no real need to have one. I’ve checked the video and it was a really nice show/fair. I am really glad to see many people interested in healthy lifestyle and bike riding.

Ebikes are for anyone that want the extra push for going up tough hills and long distance commutes that less experienced riders may struggle with 🙂
