First Impressions

Both the A7 and A8 are lightweight and compact. A7 is more long and like a bottle shape as the A8 is more of a rectangle. I can see these easily fitting into a backpack for day trips and going out for long runs. I like the feeling of the A8 a bit more due to it’s smooth and more compact profile. Looks are not everything though, so Let’s find out which one is faster and more accurate!

Pressure presets & using the A2: E-Bike Test

Both pumps operate the same way. The A7 and A8 come with charging cable, high pressure hose, and attachments to pump up sports equipment, balloons, and valve converter for all types of bikes.

They can be preset for different types of vehicles. Bike, Motorcycle, Car, and ball / sports equipment. These can be saved so you never have to make an adjustment, simply select your pressure, screw the valve on and voila! The only major difference between the pumps are the A8’s Aluminum double layered shell which reduces the noise of the pump which can be observed in the YouTube review video.

Using on Bikes & Motorcycles

We set the pumps to 101 psi to test the true accuracy of the pumps. As I screwed them onto the valve, it automatically reads the current pressure in the tire – awesome! It took about a minute and 30 seconds for both tires to reach 101 psi from 5 to 10 psi as I bled the air a bit for a true ‘flat” test.

On motorcycles, it takes a little longer since the tire is a much bigger profile and so on with car tires and SUVs. Both hoses are easy to put onto the valve – make sure you use the right attachment or you may ne starching your head for a minute.

How to use:

1. Remove the valve cap and turn the valve.
2. Connect the inflation port.
3. Press and hold the power button to turn on.
4. Establish a pressure for inflatable objects.
5. Press the power button to inflate. It will stop automatically when the pressure is reached.

Cars & SUVs

Pump up your bike, car, SUV and sport equipment all with one tool. These pumps are not made to handle heavy vehicles or equipment like trucks or buses and can damage the product or cause harm to the user if not following these guidelines and will void the warranty.

Charges in less than 2 hours

Just like the A2, it only takes a couple hours to charge from red to green. With a built-in 2600mAh rechargeable lithium battery, the CYCPLUS A7 + A8 can inflate car tires or 12 bicycle tires or 40 basketballs on a single full charge. It takes only 3 minutes to pump a completely flat bicycle tire, 8-12 minutes for a 205 / 55r17 automotive tire.

These pumps have built in battery protection systems to prevent damage and depleting the battery to low. Make sure to charge the pump after each used to ensure you have full capability to pump up on the road. The sound of the pump when being used is noticeably quieter with the A8 whereas the A7’s plastic body makes more of a rattling sound. This does not affect the speed or accuracy of the reading system before and after pumping.

80 Lumen Flashlight

Both the A7 and A8 have the same 80 lumen flashlights. The included 80 lumen flashlights is handy to see in the dark, especially if you don’t have a backup flashlight such as your phone which in the event that it was dead could not assist you. Up to 7 hours of light, it may only be 80 lumens but you won’t be complaining when you need it! This is good for threading onto the valves in the dark, hanging above like a lamp, etc.

Hi Rowan – This was a great review for these 2 tire pumps. I like how portable, lightweight, and accurate both of the models are. I will admit, I definitely don’t ride as much bike as I once did when I was young, however what really impresses me is that you can use them on vehicles as well. I live in the Midwest and we get our fair share of cold weather during the winter. And during these times the air pressure in our tires can become low overnight. This would be an excellent tool to keep in our car. My question is, can it still perform cold, freezing temperatures below -10℃ ? Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Hi Dereck! Yes these pumps can both operate at -10℃ up to +60℃. A7 and A8 will warm up when used repeatedly which should not make a difference other than that it could warm up your hands after you are done pumping your car or bike 🙂

Remember to wait 10 minutes between each long use to protect the device from overheating. It does have a shut off function however I would recommend not always relying on it. Better to be vigilant, take care of your pump and it will take care of you too!

    Hey Rowan,

I like this review of two handy handheld pumps with the press of a button you can use for your bike, motorcycle, cars, etc.
And given its small size and lightweight, one can simply pop either of these pumps into their carry during the longer rides.

But if I am pressed to choose one, I’d go with the A8 easily. Mostly because I appreciate it being quieter than the A7.
Plus, the inclusion of the led emergency light is very handy as well.
    It’s really handy.

Great review by the way, so much helpful information about the Cycplus A7 and A8 pump.
    Two thumbs up!

    Cheers,
    Femi.
