A Light Cruiser to Enjoy the Breeze!

An unusually lightweight and handy Cruiser – The Fifield Seaside. Only clocking in at 45 lbs, this is the lightest Cruiser that has been reviewed on Radical Electric Bikes so far! Set up with matching smaller tires instead of the regular large balloon types, everything about the Seaside’s design was to keep the weight down to a minimum while rocking all the relaxed features of the Cruiser ebike.

Just looking at this bike you can tell it is very simple, but it competes with all the other ebikes in its price margin and offers an impressive package that many may find to be what they are looking for – Lightweight, reliable, simple, and equipped with all weather and safety features.

Equipped for Day Trips and Easy Commuting

With the chill crowd in mind, a lightweight and smaller aluminum frame will give you more maneuverability and freedom in tighter dimensions, making the Seaside a sweet and breezy ride.

For groceries or carrying you daily belongings to work or Jane’s super sick beach party there is an included Rear Rack for attaching a bag. The Seaside also comes with front SR Suntour Suspension to handle bumpier routes and sandy paths that would otherwise make your ride a bit wobbly. This is a great bike for parents who want to mount a child seat, or can also use a tandem hookup to enjoy the day with Junior or Matilda 🙂 This being an electric bike will help pull your second passenger up those hills!

All-Inclusive Weather Package

On top of the Rear Rack, Front and Rear Fenders are also included to prevent water and road debris from flying up your leg and making things uncomfortable. Be both comfortable and confident in the cold and wind.

One more guard for the chain keeps operation smooth and requires less attention and only needs occasional cleaning. This also aids the fenders because sometimes at higher speeds like rolling down a hill can kick up more debris from the crank. For you tidy people that don’t like tracking dirt into the house, this is one for you!

Full Safety Features

The Seaside offers 100% coverage in the dark with it’s Front and Rear Lights. For side to side, the Reflective Kenda Tires will warn others when you are crossing a street or coming to an intersection. These tires are also lined with Kevlar stripping to enhance puncture and breakage resistance.

And like a traditional Cruiser should, a bell for alerting other riders and road users of your presence is also included. Completing this awesome package are the mechanical Tektro Front and Rear Disc Brakes for stopping hard and fast in all weather and temperatures.

36V 14.5 Ah Lithium Battery

Powering the Fifield Seaside is a 36V 14.5 Ah Lithium Battery. Being a lighter bike, the Seaside can achieve ranges between 30 – 50 miles or 48 – 80 kilometers depending on the level of assist and / or throttle use. A regular charging time of 5 – 6 hours is needed for a fully juiced power plant.

This is the same size / voltage battery that can be used on other bikes that use more powerful motors like a 500W. While more power is of course awesome, some prefer more range and silence of operation – so a smaller and lighter motor like the 350W is more suitable.

Smooth 350W Rear Hub Motor

As mentioned above, a smaller motor like the 350W Rear Hub Motor is more quiet, it is a bit less powerful, which trades off for an incredible range (Reminder: 30 – 50 miles or 48 – 80 kilometers) which many riders may prefer for commuting to work or other far away kingdoms.

This motor can go up to 20 miles or 32 kilometers per hour on a flat surface using the Throttle. With the Pedal Assist and the efficient Shimano Atlus 9-speed gearing this make the hills and steep angles easy and satisfying to conquer!

Throttle and Controls

The KM5S LCD King meter Pedal Assist System (PAS) has 3 levels of low, medium and high power. This is unlike other types like mountain bikes which require more wide range of assist depending on the environment. Meaning a bike like the Seaside does not require so many levels to achieve the desired amount of assist.

The display on the Seaside is fully protected from water and dirt to prevent damage and provide accurate feedback to the rider for Power, PAS level, Range, and Trip Distance. Ride rain or shine!

Conclusion:

The Fifield Seaside is a nice change of pace for Cruiser types. Much lighter, agile and easier to carry or mount up onto a car to take on a road trip with the RV. It is nicely balanced with smaller parts all around instead of the enormous fat types we are used to seeing so often!

For riders that don’t want to deal with a big powerful and heavy bike, the Seaside checks off everything – Ease of Operation, simple design and controls, enough power for long trips, and enough torque to get over all the larger hills. This wonderful bike gets a solid 85 / 100! Complete Pros, Cons and more observations can be found at the bottom of this review.

I would not recommend this bike for trail or more uneven terrain, a fat tire cruiser like the Big Cat Long Beach Cruiser XL 500 would be much more effective and fun! What type of cruiser do you like more? Thank you so very much Rowan for sharing this detailed review on the Fifield Seaside.

I have been looking for a lightweight way to travel when camping, traveling etc…. without the need for a large amount of speed or power as I am now over 50 and relaxing more on mostly level terrain.

For camping and a more felxible package, I would recommend a bike like the Fifield Jetty 4.0 here Or if you wanted bigger tires for going off road then I would also suggest looking at the Emojo Lynx Pro Ultra here. They are both folding types, but the Lynx is a bit heavier!

This looks like a good city bike! I live in the hilly part of our beautiful city and going to town on my bike was never an issue, but coming back…. the light weight, low step-in and the rainy weather protection are important to me. I am considering an e-bike like this one. Thanks for sharing. I would like to see similar ones to see the options and differences in specs and prices. Which other brands and similar city-bike types can you recommend?

Hi Angelique! If this is your first ebike and want all the features you mentioned like on the Seaside, I would recommend Phantom, one of their great models is the Santa Fe Classic. Hand built, very high quality bike. You can read more about it here 🙂

One more I can recommend is the Emojo Lynx Pro Ultra, it’s a fold up type that is powerful yet compact and similar to a low step bike. See more details here!
