Staying fit and playing outside is a #1 recommended way of staying motivated and tapping into your inner fun-loving self! Many people were already doing this before anything like what we are dealing with started (COVID-19). It keeps your fire going and give you those energetic and happy vibes! It is now safer than ever for all riders on Bicycles, E-Bikes, Motorcycles and Skateboarders to use the roads more freely, safely and more enjoyably of course. Many are discouraged to go outside but I’m telling you, you don’t know what you’re missing! Here is why now is the BEST time to get an E-Bike and start riding today!

Red & Blue Electric Bikes

Do not look back, only forwards!

Less Traffic = Safer to Ride!

As you can tell when you go outside, most streets are quiet and have little to no cars around. This may seem eerie and kind of odd, but all it takes is you to decide to brighten up your own day by getting out there! Enjoy the streets all to yourself with some friends all on your awesome E-Bikes! For those who have yet to try one, it’s never been a better time to get an E-Bike and enjoy the fun!

The weather and the world is getting an opportunity to clean and purify it’s waterways, lakes and of course the sky! When you go out for a ride you will notice the cleaner air and reduced noise pollution which is a unique and wonderful experience. I went down to New Brighton Park a week ago and it was so sunny that it was hard to believe we are in such troublesome times, thus giving me some peace and quiet from racing thoughts of stress and things that only negatively affect me & my loved ones.

Reduced Bus Times = Lame

Here in Vancouver, the bus services like everywhere else have been significantly reduced. Right after the launch of the new R5 line going down Hastings (R meaning “Rapid”) and what do you know? That’s all changed. Buses every 15 mins if not more, if you miss it then well, you see where I’m going with this. It’s a nuisance which is avoidable if you had an E-Bike. You can free yourself of being bound to public transport if you do not have a car or other suitable wheels. Get yourself around freely and safely with the reduced traffic.

Not only the main roads are more clear and safer to navigate, but the bike paths are better than ever!. With so little traffic throughout the city, regular hard-to-see spots at roundabouts and choke points are not going to be as much of a danger zone and obstruction as before. Not to say you should not be paying attention, but that the fact is there are fewer cars on the road so this makes the bike paths even safer than they were previously. Here is a video I found to be FANTASTIC for riders of both regular motorcycles and electric motorcycles regarding how to use your head properly and more! His channel is called Ride Like a Pro Jerry Pallidino. You will love what you learn from his videos! 😉

Summer Is Coming!

With a great start to the Spring, the warm weather it brings rolls us closer to the hotter and festive days of Summer. Many people’s concerns about riding bikes is in the rain and slippery conditions that it can bring. This time of year is second to none when it comes to starting a new activity or returning to one that is limited by the weather. Fortunately for E-Bikes, they are not all limited by the weather like Volleyball, Skateboarding or Rollerblading. You can enjoy your E-Bike all year round! One of my favorite places to go is Kitsilano Beach on a sunny day and along Jericho to UBC Campus, I will make an adventure video featuring these locations soon! Make sure to like and subscribe to my YouTube, Facebook and Instagram for the latest and up to date videos from me here at Radical Electric Bikes to be notified first!

Ebikes and Motorcycles

Let’s all have fun while making the planet a cleaner and better place!

Attention New Yorkers – E-Bikes & Scooters Are Now Legal!

After much debate and anticipation, lawmakers agreed on multiple types of E-Bikes and Scooters for use on public highways with a speed limit of 30 mph (48 kms per hour) or less. Pedal Assist E-Bikes were already legal in New York, but initially Scooters or Throttle Controlled Bikes were not. This agreement covered Pedal Assisted Bikes which are limited to 20 mph (32 km / hour), and Throttle powered bikes are allowed to go 25 mph or 40 kilometers per hour in cities of 1 million or more (Reported by Engadget).

This is yet just another reminder to keep your precious head protected at all costs, forget about a measly $50 fine! It’s nothing compared to the medical bill you that you would have to pay for life instead, or worse. For low income families, the agreement states the National Helmet Distribution Program can provide helmets for children and young kids to those that apply for it. presenting the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy something new with your family and loved ones.

Time To Get Out There! ☀️

Thanks to the reduced traffic, it’s now the perfect time to look at Electric Bikes for getting around whether is for business or pleasure. E-Bikes are already known for their undeniable reputation of practicality and effectiveness for day to day commuting vs a car or larger vehicle. I recommend a folding bike for those who live in a shared or smaller space like the Green Bike USA Carbon Light, or the Emojo Lynx Pro Ultra for a slightly more rugged bike specialized for tacking light trail and camping use.

People who already own an E-Bike know how free and fun it feels to not be limited by their surroundings while getting around town, with reduced traffic and noise it’s even more enjoyable. Some of these E-Bikes even come with a speaker for playing music which is one of my favorite things about them, because the motor is so quiet while riding you can jam all the way with uninterrupted high quality beats! 🔊

Now that you’ve added an E-Bike to your new and improved routine, what else do you do to promote and boost your health and spirits? Share your awesome way of living life and ideas with us by commenting below, let’s all learn and grow through this together!

    Hi Rowan,

It’s great to hear that Ebikes are now becoming more and more accepted and legal in more places! I know England is still a bit funny about electric scooters, but Ebikes seem fairly well accepted here now. With a climate (in the south at least) not dissimilar to that of Vancouver I completely agree that cycling is a year round activity.

Personally, at the moment I commute on a lightweight cyclocross bike year-round, but there are some times in the gusty, rainy winter that I do think something a bit more robust with a power boost would be a bit more practical. Is there something available that could deal with this kind of inclement weather commute and still be fun and robust enough for an offroad forest adventure? I think I can justify having one Ebike in addition to my current bike – I don’t think I could stretch to two!

Hi Lisa! Yes there are many options for an electric bike that is suitable for your commute and the weather changes. There are bikes with smaller motors and lightweight frames much like a regular bike with a built in battery, but they are not as robust as a Fat Tire or Mountain bike. If you are more used to a lightweight bike then I would stick with one like the Jetson Mountain Bike.

Or if you are interested in a larger bike with a mid drive motor then I would recommend the Biktrix Juggernaut HD Classic I personally have two bikes, one regular type and an E-Bike too for extra fun 🙂

Hi, thank you for the post!
E-bikes have intrigued and scared me a little :p I would love one so I can use the car less.
I’ve been a little apprihensive, as well as I thought I heard they were illegal some places, so this was very helpful!

    Have a lovely day!

      Hi Martine!

Every day more people see the benefits of this technology and it’s clean features. It was a rough start at first, but now it has been proven that E-Bikes are going to help change the world for the better by helping those who struggle with hills or just those who want a more memorable and fun experience 🙂

Hey Rowan, very cool post man. I did not even realize an E-bike was a thing. I do drive a motorcycle and my kids have scooters so can appreciate how great an e-bike would be. I live in Canada however so our season is so short. Need to get an e-snowmobile! lol I have a buddy who lives in Bermuda and they all own scooters, I bet you the e-bike is catching on over there in a big way. Cheers man

Hi Robb! Yes the season is short but that is what makes every ride even more memorable, especially with good friends and family. I would love to go to that part of the world and explore on a scooter as you mentioned. Maybe by that time E-Bikes and Scooters will be more accessible to ride instead!

Good afternoon, Rowan! This is a brilliant article. I love the outdoors, and I love to stay active. I kid you not, the moment I saw the blue E-bike (blue is my favorite color), I became giddier than a kid in a candy store. Haha I have bookmarked your site and will definitely be back to learn more! God bless you!

    Hello Rowan,
What a neat article and great time to look at getting into E-Bikes! I’ve never ridden one myself, but have consider purchasing one. This post along with others on your website will certainly help me discern the best fit for me. I am 6’5″ 220lbs do you have any suggestions?

    • Reply

      Hi Jonah!

Since you are quite tall I would recommend a Large (20″) or Extra Large (22″) frame. Most E-Bikes have a maximum rider weight capacity of 250 – 280 lbs. I would recommend the Biktrix Juggernaut HD Classic. I met the owner of the company at the BC Bike Show last February where I took it for a test ride, I loved it! It’s their original model that is loaded with safety features and accessories like a rear rack, headlight, and a mid-drive motor which is ideal for a pedal assist only bike.

If you want a bike with a throttle on it like Motorcycle, I recommend the Emojo Cougar Mountain Bike which is more of a true mountain bike equipped with full suspension instead of a hard tail like the Juggernaut HD Classic. Keep in mind that the Juggernaut is a bit more powerful @ 1000W to 1500W Peak output unlike the Emojo Cougar’s 500W motor. Here is a link to sizing bikes which you may find also useful on Let me know if this helped you! 👍

    Hi Rowan

Thanks for this post on e-bikes. You really hit the nail on the head when talking about the warm weather, I actually think that this type of weather is perfect for riding an e-bike, especially because its not ideal to be stuck in a car on a warm day. Riding an e-bike on a warm day sounds like an enjoyable experience.

    Hey Rowan!
I really like your passion for e-bikes, they’re the future. I’m from India, e-bikes are in the initial stage here. Startups and prominent brands are now switching from ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) – bikes to e-bikes.

Yes! I know that India is really picking up the pace with manufacturing and design! I will write some articles in the near future about India and the E-Bike scene’s growth there. It’s not just growing like this in india but all over the world!
